Lismore Clinical Trials Group
The Lismore Clinical Trials Group is a new group aimed at facilitating clinical research within the Northern Rivers Area Health Service. The group is part of the NRUDRH and consists of Dr Austin Curtin, Dr John Graham, Dr William James, Dr Peter Rankin, Dr Kim Webber, Dr Megan Passey and Prof John Beard.
The Lismore Clinical Trials Group is currently working on three (3) drug company sponsored clinical drug trials and aims to diversify its research with other types of Clinical Research as funds become available. The team would be open to review/consider ideas from all interested clinicians. The group also has the facilities and expertise to assist clinicians to develop their research proposals into viable projects.

Careers in Rural Health Tracking Study
University of Sydney Research & Development Scheme 2006, $43,000
Schofield D & Fuller J
This study aims to fill a gap in the knowledge base about why some clinicians choose to work and remain in rural or remote areas and why others do not. By examining the potentially rich and complex influences, including factors impacting on the clinician's family, the study hopes to identify those factors that encourage and those that discourage rural practice. In particular, the study will examine how health science students’ willingness to work in a rural area translates into actual rural workforce participation.
